Image File Formats

Bitmap

jpg: A digital picture file format is called JPEG. It is a compressed file format, therefore depending on the level of compression used when converting an uncompressed and/or lossless format into a JPG picture, there may be a slight (or significant) quality loss overall.

png: A raster image file format, PNG stands for Portable Network Graphic. Its ability to handle visuals with translucent or semi-transparent backgrounds makes it a particularly popular file format among web designers.

gif: Graphics Interchange Format is referred to as GIF. GIF is a raster file format made for simple graphics that are mostly found online. Each file may support 256 indexed colors and up to 8 bits per pixel. Additionally, rudimentary animations may be made with GIF files by combining pictures or frames.

bmp: Device Independent Bitmap (or DIB), sometimes known as a BMP file (pronounced bump), is a technique used to retain the resolution of digital images on a variety of displays and devices.

psd: A native picture file format for the well-known Photoshop program from Adobe. Multiple picture layers and a variety of imaging settings are supported in this image editing-friendly format. High grade graphics data are frequently stored in PSD files.

tiff: Computer files called TIFFs, which stand for Tag Image File Format, are used to store raster graphics and image data.

heic: In order to compress and save pictures across your devices, a HEIC file employs High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC).

psb: The PSD file and the PSB (Adobe Photoshop Large Document Format) file format are almost identical, although the PSB file format supports much larger file sizes.

camera raw: A RAW file records the raw data from your camera's sensor since it is lossless. A RAW file, which is often referred to as a digital negative, can be thought of as the unprocessed "ingredients" of a photograph that must be further enhanced to realize its full potential.

indd: Every time you use InDesign, an INDD file is the source of your work. The INDD format is the default file type for InDesign, and it is frequently used by graphic designers, journalists, marketers, and publishers who collaborate with Adobe products.

eps: For professional and high-quality picture printing, vector file formats are frequently needed.

ait: Adobe Illustrator Template is known as AIT. An Adobe Illustrator template, the AIT file is an AIT file. The AIT file includes the drawing's default content, settings, pictures, and layout.

Layout

imdd: The popular page layout program Adobe InDesign's native file format is called an INDD file. The INDD format is the only way to keep every element of your layout design in an editable state when working on a project in InDesign. When the document is finished, INDD files are exported into more popular formats like PDF.

idml: Represents as XML elements and attributes the objects and properties of an Adobe InDesign (. indd) file.
